A very interesting Tuscan blend of Sangiovese and other indigenous grapes, Valente is fruity and floral, mineral and spicy. It’s a good, well-made red (especially for the price), but do not expect a fruit bomb or a full body red.
It starts at the nose with morello cherry, violets, leather, iron, cinnamon, orange zest and eucalyptus.
At the palate it is crisp, fruity; the tannins are elegant, and the finish is long.
Grapes: Sangiovese, Pugnitello, Foglia Tonda, Ciliegiolo
Pairing: I like it with ribollita or beans soup, risotto with porcini mushrooms, or all kinds of meat.
