A single-vineyard Primitivo, this wine is made to retain the excellent and natural sweetness typical of Primitivo grape.
Primitivo has the same origin of Zinfandel, both from Montenegro (former Yugoslavia). The first made its way to Southern Italy between Apulia and Basilicata, the other one traveled to California before prohibition.
Their DNA is the same and Primitivo has the very round, smooth structure that can be found in the best expressions of Zinfandel.
At the nose, it is like opening a jar of ripe cherry jam, followed by floral notes and wet black stones.
It is smooth at the palate, long and persistent with the layers of a fruit jam. Its backbone of acidity makes it moderately balanced and pleasant.
Pairing: Great with peppery dishes, beef stew, spicy Oriental main courses and tuna steak.
Appellation: Puglia IGP, Italy
