Primitivo Riserva is made with organic grapes grown on 80-year-old vines with the alberello pugliese (goblet) training system.
The dark ruby red color and the viscosity anticipate the complexity at the nose. Notes of blackberries, dry figs, integrated with fennel, artichokes, and spicy notes of vanilla and paprika, red dry flowers, candied violets and dry apricots; wet stones and leather. The taste is complex, the texture is dense. It is long and smooth, with the acidity able to sustain the alcohol and the fruit in a long dance of emotions.
Primitivo Riserva is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, macerated on the lees for 30 days and unfiltered.
Pairing: It can be a meditation wine for after dinner, or to accompany aged cheese or chocolate based desserts. But in Puglia they consider it also as a perfect pairing for important meat dishes.
Appellation: Gioa del Colle DOC, Italy
