This is a very good expression of the Nebbiolo grape from Northern Piemonte, more elegant and less bold than the same grape in the Barolo and Barbaresco appellations (Southern Piemonte).
Very nice garnet color in the glass, this wine has an intense blend of spicy and fruity, floral and herbaceous notes at the nose. Forest floor and tobacco leaves, clove and orange zest, soap stone and cinnamon.
At the palate it is more persistent and deep than its color would suggest, balanced and elegant yet strong and long, with a finish that brings back the orange zest and the sapidity of the stone.
Grapes: Nebbiolo, Vespolina
Pairing: Excellent with food, from hearty pasta with red sauces and ragu, to braised beef or filet and mushrooms.
Appellation: Costa della Sesia DOC, Italy
