A very fresh and approachable organic white wine made in Cornas, Rhône Valley, by the Colombo family, passionate of nature, organic grapes, and ecology. Jean Luc, his wife Anne and their daughter Laure, who’s the current winemaker of the estate, are life-long beekeepers. They dedicated this wine Les Abeilles (in French: the bees), to these precious animals who help pollinate their vineyards and fruit trees. As bee colonies have been declining globally at alarming rates, they have been committed to the development of the Bee Helpful Program, whereby a portion of each bottle sold of Les Abeilles goes to entomology research. Back to the wine, it starts with citrus, a scent of white flowers and wet sand, followed by golden ripe apples, paprika and pineapple. It’s fruity, crisp and persistent. Very enjoyable.
Grapes: Clairette, Roussane
Pairing: Any catch of the day is good with this white wine, from Hamachi crudo to a new England chowder soup.
