This very good Chianti Classico is made by the acclaimed winery Fontodi, which has been at the vanguard of the organic farming movement in Tuscany and which created the great wine Flaccianello, a familiar feature in best wine lists throughout the world.
At the nose, candied violets, herbs and minerality (iron, white stones), followed by a balsamic note, tangerine zest and sage.
This Chianti is crisp and smooth with elegant tannins and an important finish with spices, dry fruits and flowers.
Grape: Sangiovese
Pairing: Tuscany and Chianti make us think of a nice T-bone steak, white sauteed beans, or a pasta with wild boar ragù.

It is in the central part of the larger Chianti DOCG denomination. It is a relatively small area between Firenze and Siena, mainly around the villages of Gadda, Gaiole, Radda, and Castellina in Chianti. It is very similar to the area first recognized by Cosimo III de’ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, in 1716, as the best area for producing Chianti.
