Chianti Classico Castello di Rampolla was one of the first organic wines in the region. It’s a medium bodied wine: an everyday choice for those who love crisp, fresh and floral red wines.
Rose petals and cherries, chocolate and orange zest, wet forest floor. A balsamic note and a bit hearty at the finish in the mouth. It’s a very typical Chianti, well balanced with elegant tannins.
Grapes: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
Pairing: BBQ, pasta and wild boar ragù, mushrooms.
Appellation: Chianti Classico DOCG, Italy
It is in the central part of the larger Chianti DOCG denomination. It is a relatively small area between Firenze and Siena, mainly around the villages of Gadda, Gaiole, Radda, and Castellina in Chianti. It is very similar to the area first recognized by Cosimo III de’ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, in 1716, as the best area for producing Chianti.
