Bellone is a very old indigenous grape from the Lazio region of Italy. How old? It is referenced by Plinio the elder, who lived in ancient Rome.
For centuries, it has been blended with other grapes, and its full potential has been recently re-discovered by Casale del Giglio and a few other producers.
It is a re-discovery, at a very interesting price. The wine is round and soft, with honey, apricot and lemon zest emerging at the nose, followed by tropical fruit and a hint of seashells (minerality). In the mouth, Bellone is warm, dry, floral, smooth and balanced. It is fermented with indigenous yeasts.

Pairing: Locals in the Anzio Riviera pair it with fish soup. You can enjoy it with any type of fish, salads, prosciutto and cantaloupe, or even pasta alla carbonara.
