This Rosso from Col d’Orcia is made by Conte Cinzano from the youngest vines but properly ripened clusters. Therefore it is crisp and floral, with a violet note coming to the nose with red berries and a little spicy note. It is pleasant and fresh at the palate. Perfect for those who like elegant and light-bodied red wines, not too demanding or pricey.

Pairing: Great at lunch with a sandwich or a salad, at dinner with cannellini beans and a steak, or roasted chicken and grilled vegetables.

Rosso di Montalcino DOC is a “baby brunello”. The rule of the appellation that it be made with the same grape as the senior Brunello (100% Sangiovese), but with a shorter aging requirement (1 year minimum, versus 4 years for the Brunello). It is usually fresher and less concentrated—but lighter and less expensive—than Brunello, making it an excellent everyday choice.
