Timorasso is one of the many grapes which grows well only in a specific area (micro-climate and soil). Very interesting complexity, with aroma of ripe peaches and pineapple, white almonds (marzipan) and honeysuckle. At the palate, we get a note, and the texture, of white sand. Very well-structured compared to the reputation of young Italian white wines, it is long in the finish, maintaining its complexity until the end.
Something to try for Chardonnay lovers: you can expect a good amount of body, but not buttery notes.
Grape: Timorasso
Pairing: I like it with sweet spicy food, like with turmeric and cardamon, or lightly smoked fish, or pasta and shellfish. Great also as aperitif with hard cheeses, nuts and dried fruits. It can be paired with roasted chicken, or white fish with light citrus-and-butter sauce.
