In this category you will find wines that are the opposite of “classic.” I selected them because they are different, well-made and interesting. Such wines could feature a rare grape, or a grape not indigenous to a specific wine region. They could represent a fresh take on the wine-making process, such as aging in clay vases, or a longer skin maceration than usual. These are wines that have character and characteristics that take them “off the beaten track.”
