Sessanta is a very balanced, modern-styled Tuscan red wine. Its name celebrates owner and winemaker Mario Pelosi turning 60. It’s very pleasant, harmonious and at a very reasonable price. At the nose it is complex: red flowers and berries, paprika and herbaceous notes of artichokes, iron and leather, wet black stones and balsamic scent of eucalyptus. At the mouth it is crisp and smooth (thanks to the touch given by the Alicante grape), with the tannins elegant and very well integrated. Intense and persistent.
Grapes: Sangiovese, Alicante
Pairing: Pasta with red sauces (amatriciana, for example), grilled meats and vegetables.
Appellation: Maremma Toscana DOC, Italy
Maremma, in southern Tuscany, has well-preserved natural territories, and the grape farming benefits from the breeze of the Mediterranean Sea.
From Bordeaux guru Eric de Rothschild to the Antinori family, many wine aristocrats have invested in this land in the last 15 years, leading to a surge in quality at affordable prices compared to similar viticultural areas.
