Our Score: 90
This wine is made with Verdicchio white grape, which grows almost exclusively in the Adriatic coast of Italy. Its consumption is very local and it is not (yet) well-known in the US. Ampelio Bucci, owner and winemaker, decided in 1999 to transition to organic farming and winemaking, and became a pioneer in the region of Marche.
The minerality is what defines its personality, so if you do not like minerality… do not even try it. But if you like in a white wine a certain degree of complexity, the freshness of the citrus zest, the note of an apple with a touch of sapidity from the stone and sandy soil, then this is the right one to try.
Grape: Verdicchio
Pairing: Grilled seafood, shrimps and scallops, sardines and squids. Fish, fish, and fish…
Appellation: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC, Italy
