Pinot Noir is not an easy grape to grow. It likes cold and wet environments, but it is not the strongest in resisting bad weather. Suffice it to say, it is very difficult to make a great Pinot Noir - and we shouldn’t be awfully surprised if the best Pinot Noirs in the world are from Burgundy in France (not exactly the best climate).
Oregon and the Anderson Valley in the USA, and the Alto Adige region in Italy also have the same nervous climate, with a very high range of temperatures between day and night.
This Pinot Noir from the Terlano winery is very good. At the nose, dark geranium and flint from the soil, red berries and herbaceous notes, some leather, and spicy notes at the end. At the palate it is light-medium bodied, crisp and persistent, with its sapidity, spice and fruit notes accompanying the long finish.
Grape: Pinot Noir
Pairing: It is very versatile and good with any white meat, soups or pizza.
Appellation: Alto Adige DOC
