If you have been to the famous Ischia Island (or the lesser-known Ponza Island a little north of Ischia), you have certainly tasted a glass of Bian- colella as a house white wine at that restaurant on the beach...
This Biancolella here, however, is no house wine.
A very interesting grape, which, as many others, grows well only with a very specific soil, wind and weather condition. Casale del Giglio produc- es its Biancolella with grapes from their vineyards located on the dra- matic slopes of the Ponza Island.
It is a golden yellow wine, smooth yet crisp. It shows notes of citrus, hon- eysuckle, jasmin, tropical fruits and tarragon at the nose. The typical minerality (iodine) of the grape is very well integrated with stone fruit on the palate. A honeycomb note in the long finish makes it truly unique.
