Some wines manage to be a typical representation of their grape and exceptional at the same time. That’s the case with Harmonium, a very typical Nero d’Avola, pleasant to drink, which is also one of the best in the category: it’s made with a selection of the best berries from three different crus, resulting in a very special bottle.
At the nose a clear scent of ripe morello cherries, blackcurrant jam, ashes and graphite, raspberry, geranium, paprika and vanilla, candied red orange and a touch of dark chocolate.
At the palate it is dry, sapid and moderately crisp, smooth, warm and intense. It is balanced and long with a complex finish and a medium to full body. The tannins are elegant.
Grape: Nero d'Avola
Pairing: A full-meal wine and very versatile, it’s ideal with pork chops or roasted chicken, grilled vegetables, a rich tomato sauce, aged cheese or a dark chocolate mousse. It is one of the few reds I would enjoy with apple curry sauce with chicken.
