On February 27th 2010, immediately before the harvest of the organic grapes should have begun, a violent earthquake hit the central coast of Chile. The epicenter was very close to the Erasmo vineyard, so when a few days later the harvest started in adventurous and dramatic conditions, the ripeness of the berries was dictated by nature more than the decision of the winemaker.
According to the owners, this event forever changed the perception of perfect maturity of grapes in that valley. The wine is bold, structured and complex. Red and black berries, iron and bell peppers at the nose, with orange zest, nutmeg and potpourri. At the palate, the wine is more crisp and sapid than smooth, but the tannins are elegant, making it a pleasant and balanced companion for a dinner with succulent dishes.
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah
Pairing: It’s perfect with BBQ and burgers, but also great with pasta with meat ragù or mushrooms.
Appellation: Maule Valley D.O. Chile
